Mother of Alleged Occupy Cleveland Conspirator Calls For Death of FBI Informant

The mother of Connor Stevens, one of five Occupy Cleveland members accused of attempting to bomb a Cleveland-area bridge on April 30, called for the death of the FBI informant in the case at a protest this morning. “People are infuriated by sexual predators: put ‘em away, kill ‘em, how dare we have sexual predators! You know what that informant is? A sexual predator, only it’s under the guise of the FBI,” said Gail Stevens, discussing the case with reporters in Akron.

Ms. Stevens assigned blame for the alleged bomb plot to the FBI, claiming her son Connor – who is 20 years old – was entrapped. Stevens went on to say, “None of them have a car! None of them have a driver’s license! But that criminal did. He drove them around, he took care of them, he worked with them 12 hours a day. That is a predator, and that’s what happened in this case. They were taken in by a predator. To me, even worse than a sexual predator.”

All five of the defendants in the case are adult males. Anthony Hayne, who pleaded guilty in today’s court appearance, is 35 years old.

As reported by ABC 5, “Supporters of the five held signs Wednesday that read ‘Stop FBI Entrapment’ and ‘Justice Don’t Be Blind.’ The mother of one defendant says the suspects were manipulated by an FBI informant.” In the story featuring the interview with Ms. Stevens, ABC 5 makes no mention of Occupy Cleveland although the alleged bomb-plotters were heavily involved with the far-left protest group.

ABC 5 video of the interview is embedded below, followed by a transcript of the remarks in question from the woman identifying herself as Gail Stevens.

He in no way, no way should be in this situation. It infuriates me that my son is in this situation, and it’s all because of the criminal and FBI who put him in this situation and manipulated it exactly how they wanted it to be manipulated. You know what I compare it to? People are infuriated by sexual predators: put ‘em away, kill ‘em, how dare we have sexual predators! You know what that informant is? A sexual predator, only it’s under the guise of the FBI, doing the same thing, gaining their trust, giving them employment, giving them money, giving them housing, having a car. None of them have a car! None of them have a driver’s license! But that criminal did. He drove them around, he took care of them, he worked with them 12 hours a day. That is a predator, and that’s what happened in this case. They were taken in by a predator. To me, even worse than a sexual predator.

  1. You’re kidding right? Your son is 20 years old and yet you act like he’s nine. All he had to do was tell the FBI agent that he really didn’t want to be involved. He did not do that. He deserves what he gets. If he can be manipulated into this, what else could he have been manipulated to do?

  2. The son is in trouble and the only thing the mother can say is death to the informant who probably saved many lives by deterring the bombing of a bridge. What is happening in this country?

  3. Seem to me the five were willing participants. Just sayin… Maybe this woman should consider some of her own shortcomings as an enabling parent.

I know. This lady is crazy. She is using free speech to glorify the bad guy and try to accuse the person trying to save lives. She is definitely evil. Teach your kid responsibility and this would not have happened. How dare you accuse the wrong person — you get no sympathy; only shame.

  4. the wacko, I mean the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.. The inside FBI guy had a car, so what could my son and his friends do, but become his slaves….

If there’s one thing one can be relatively sure of, it is that this is not entrapment. I can just imagine the case conferences where legal counsel was quizzed repeatedly by the agents building the indictments: “are you absolutely sure these guys are not going to skate by claiming entrapment? If so, why are you sure?” If every such case were to fail because it was classed as entrapment, then you could pretty much dispense with the idea of undercover policing.

Its a sad day when we have to not only worry about our children making the wrong decisions naturally, but also an employee of the government praying on our lost children, using their criminal and government training to guide them into violent situations involving weapons of mass destruction that our children have never even been face to face with, or had an ounce of experience with in their life. Is this something that we need to start preparing our children for? Adolescence and early adulthood are already a confusing period of time, but now we have to teach our kids that the people who we pay to protect us could be waiting to plug them into a possible life sentence in federal prison? All for what? What image is this creating for our future as a society? As a country? As a people?
